Understanding herniated disc
symptoms, treatment and prevention

A provision is referred to as a degenerative change of the disc. The fibrosus cartilage ring is not only minimallly ruptured. It is also balget outward.

A herniated disc can put unnatural pressure on the ligaments and nerves, causing pain that may be localized in the back or radiate in to the leg. The herniated disc is located in the lumbar spine or in the area of the cervical spine.

Paralysis or dysesthesias occur when there is severe and prolonged pressure on the nerve of the affected spinal disc in the respective vertebral level.

The most common herniated discs are lochtet in the cervical spine in the area of the 5th/6th cervical vertebrae and the 6th/7th cervical vertebrae. The protruding tissue can then lead to an irritation of the roots of the spinal nerven coming out of the spinal cord or even pressure damage of the spinal cord.

Emergencies are caused by a transverse syndrome. This occurs when the spinal cord or the caudal is damaged by the herniated disc.

Physiotherapy in my spine practice offers you a trustworthy and qualified treatment option for existing spinal disc problems.

The causes of herniated disc

Physiotherapy in Berlin for herniated disc

A herniated disc is the result of one-sided or unilateral strain, genetic weakness and/or insufficiently trained paravertebral and/or abdominal muscles.

A herniated disc can also be triggered during pregnancy. Our upright posture unfortunately also favours the development of a herniated disc.

The source of the pain is not always where the pain is felt not is the pain always felt at the source of the problem. Numerous factors need to be considered to make a precise diagnosis:

• the spinal column

• the discs itself

• personal stress

• shoulder problems

• hand problems

• knee problems

• foot problems

• breathing problems

• dental problems

Symptoms of a herniated disc

Symptoms of a herniated disc are normally sudden pain in the lower back, sometimes referred to as lumbago.

This is often caused by sudden body rotation or movement. A herniated disc is often accompanied by numbness in the area of the trapped nerve root. Sneezing, coughing and straining can intensify the pain. Bladder, bowel and/or erection disorders can also be symptoms.

Symptoms of a herniated neck disc include headaches, neck pain, pain radiating into the arm, hand or individual fingers.

A herniated disc in the lower part of the spinal column frequently occurs in the lumbar spine between L4 and L5 or in the transition from the lumbar to the sacral spine at the 5th lumbar/sacral vertebrae (S1). Irritation or pressure damage to spinal nerve roots can cause root compression syndrome.

Symptomatic of a herniated lumbar disc is pain that arises in the lower back and radiates into the leg, foot or individual toe. This can sometimes cause a dropped foot, which leads to frequent stumbling or sensory disturbances (pins and needles).

Disc displacement can, however, also be passive and patients may not experiences back pain or any other symptoms.
